Reigning Irish Champions the Belfast Trojans kick off their 2015 season on Sunday as they travel south to take on the South Dublin Panthers.
The Trojans capped yet another fantastic season last year by winning the Shamrock Bowl for the third year in succession. After going the previous two seasons unbeaten, the Trojans had to overcome adversity in the form of defeat, but after the mid-season reverse to Trinity College, the Champions regrouped well to revenge the earlier defeat against the Students in last year’s final.
Another successful off-season has led to another strong intake of rookie players, while the starting units return on both sides of the ball looking to build towards another run at the title. The opener against the Panthers should prove to be a very tough start to this year’s campaign, with the Dublin outfit in their first season since their rebranding to the Panthers. They will be keen to get off to a quick start in their new guise and there will be no better fixture than a date with the Champions to get their new life under way.
Kick off from Westmanstown is 1.00pm on Sunday afternoon.
